Better Presentation Skills

Something that all people seem to struggle with is giving good presentations. For some they fear public speaking and being in front of their peers and for others they may just not simply know how to give a presentation. In this article by Chakisse Newton, she explains and gives tips on how to give a great presentation. One of the tips that struck me was tip number 5, which is use the magic word and no the magic word is not please….its “you”. Just by starting a sentence with “you”, you instantly engage and connect with the audience and become much more conversational. Another tip that struck me is tip number 7, which is begin boldly. It states that you should always have a powerful attention grabbing opener so that you instantly engage the audience. It’s just like meeting a new person, if their boring there not going to be your friend, but if you instantly engage with them you’re going to become great friends and that’s what you want to do with your audience. The last tip that engaged me the most was tip number 3, which is remember show and tell. Remember show and tell means that you are most effective at showing your ideas when you can show the audience what you are selling. That means give examples, tell stories, and share analogies that will make your audience remember your product and your points that you’re trying to prove.
